Very Limited Aussie Shiraz, Grab Some While it Lasts!

Australian Shiraz may not enjoy the same popularity it did ten years ago, but we believe this is good for fans of big, bolder flavored wines. We know that less demand always translates into better pricing. We have worked with the entry level wines from Nugan Estate for years and we know they are a great value. When I saw a report last year from Decanter Magazine’s World Wine Awards giving the Nugan Estate single-vineyard Shiraz 97 points, I knew I had to find some. Finally, after almost a year's effort, due to a number of circumstances, I was able to snag a mere seven cases! The wine is drinking beautifully and it is certainly the tremendous value as I was expecting.

Nugan Estate is an Australian wine company, but its story starts in 1938 in Spain when Alfredo and Annelise Nugan left their home in Alcira, Spain and migrated to Australia. Alfredo had an established fruit and vegetable farm and wanted to do this in the fertile land in Southeast Australia. By the mid 1940's he ran a top produce company that supplied not only Australia, but he was exporting to other parts of the globe as well. Along with their produce industry knowledge, the Nugans also brought with them other aspects of European culture including their appreciation of wine.

Now three generations later, Nugan Estate is a top wine producer in Australia making wines not only for daily enjoyment but top shelf wines also; all that offer outstanding value. Today's wine is part of their Single Vineyard Collection, a line that showcases Australia's signature varietals from the country’s finest wine growing regions. McLaren Vale has some of the oldest vines, not just in Australia but in the world and many of the country’s best Shiraz comes from here. Nugan's vineyards are in the foothills of the Mount Lofty Ranges. Parish Vineyard has a mix of loam, gravel, and clay soils, producing dark, rich, fruit forward Shiraz. The vineyard sits at a high altitude and has cooler conditions allowing for a longer growing season. These growing conditions and the combination of having the wine rest in French and American oak barrels for over a year, provides the wine with more elegance than most would expect.

Nugan Estate Parish Vineyard Shiraz offers lots of fruit and spice with firm tannins. The Decanter World Wine awards are no joke. Each year it is made of a panel of over 100 wine experts including 37 Masters of wine and 9 Master Sommeliers. This wine is perfect for the upcoming summer grilling season and delicious to enjoy on its own. We only have 7 cases available so if you are interested, please let us know so we can set your order aside.
