Mezcal

Mezcal is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from the roasted heart of the agave plant. It is similar to tequila, but it can be made from different types of agave and is typically smoked, giving it a unique flavor. Mezcal is typically bottled at 38-55% ABV (74-110 proof). It is believed to have originated in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, and is still produced primarily in that region today.

There are many different types of mezcal, each with its own unique flavor profile. Some of the most popular types of mezcal include:

Espadin: This is the most common type of mezcal. It is made from the Espadin agave, which is a type of blue agave. Espadin mezcal has a smooth, smoky flavor.
Joven: This type of mezcal is not aged. It is bottled immediately after distillation and has a sharp, agave-forward flavor.
Reposado: This type of mezcal is aged for two months to one year in oak barrels. It has a smooth, mellow flavor with notes of vanilla, caramel, and spices.
Anejo: This type of mezcal is aged for one to three years in oak barrels. It has a smooth, rich flavor with notes of vanilla, caramel, and spices.
Extra Anejo: This type of mezcal is aged for at least three years in oak barrels. It has a smooth, complex flavor with notes of vanilla, caramel, and spices.
