90 Point + Belle Glos Pinot Noir Gift Pack!

There are many wine gift packs out there during the holidays but what I normally see offered to us are generic, sometimes barely drinkable bottles of wine, dressed up in a fancy package. As someone who loves wines in a wide variety of styles, I would much prefer a gift, of a higher quality bottle of wine in the old, cheap foil gift bag - skip the fancy packaging! This is why I was excited to see today’s featured wine become available. Not only does it come in a sharp two bottle gift box, but the wines are delicious! In fact, we have been carrying Belle Glos Pinot Noirs for over a decade!

Belle Glos is a top producer of Pinot Noir in California. The winery is named after Lorna Belle Glos Wagner, co-founder of Caymus Vineyards and grandmother of owner-winemaker Joe Wagner. Joe is also the founder of the well-known Meiomi Pinot Noir, which has since been sold to Constellation Brands. Joe works with four vineyards on the coast of California and is known for his single vineyard releases like today’s wines. The first from the Clark & Telephone vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley. The vines were planted here in 1972 and was named for its location, on the corner of Clark Avenue and Telephone Road. This warm vineyard site is cooled by wind and fog that comes in from the Pacific Ocean along the Santa Maria River. This is a bold and rich bottle of Pinot Noir that can stand up to almost anything you have in mind to pair with it. The second bottle is from the Dairyman Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. The Dairyman Vineyard was once an old dairy farm that was planted to Pinot Noir in 2000. It is located close to the Pacific Ocean where a cool morning fog and afternoon coastal breezes produces a longer growing season. The wine from here tends to be a little lighter on its feet with more minerality and bright cherry notes. A bit more elegant than the Clark & Telephone, but a fun tasting if you enjoy them both together.
